Upgraded Sweets n Treats
Have you ever seen anything as beautiful as that pic below?!!
When I open up my sweets drawer I get this immense sense of satisfaction, a butterfly feeling in my gut… a euphoric rush through my body.
Better-for-you candy doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor. I’m going to break down my favorite sweets and a little description of how it tastes so you can see if it’s your jam.
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill candy. Did you know artificial food dye consumption has increased by 500% in the last 50 years, and children are the biggest consumers!!
Food dyes are linked to increases in hyperactivity, allergies and even tumors!!
What I look for…
-
No artificial mood disrupting dyes
-
No gut busting artificial sugars
-
No high fructose corn syrup
-
No artificial flavors
-
No sugar alcohols
I prefer to snag organic because that means It doesn’t have
-
glyphosate
-
gmo’s
-
harmful preservatives
-
added hormones from dairy in those milk chocolate candies
CHOCOLATE & CARAMELS
Youngevity
On special: These probiotic chocolates are buy one get one free! I’m not sure when it ends but wanted to pass along saving since these functional chocolates are more expensive.
Triple Treat Chocolate
It’s a dark more bitter chocolate but it’s packed with health benefits. I add it to my chocolate banana smoothie, eat it on its own or crumple it on top of my cocobiotic yogurt!
-
Dairy-free
-
Gluten-free
-
Microencapsulated probiotics
-
Quercetin
-
Antioxidants
Triple Gold Caramel
I love this caramel chocolate. Just the texture of going from the crisp chocolate ot the creamy caramel makes me salivate as I type this out. It’s not cheap so I really savor EVERY SINGLE BITE.
-
Dark chocolate means it’s full of antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavanols
-
Quercetin powder is the antiviral powerhouse found in onions and green tea but this chocolate def tastes better than both of those. It’s heart healthy too!
-
Mediterranean sea salt that’s rich in essential minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium
Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels
The only thing that stands between me and an entire bag of these coconut milk caramels is that they’re individually wrapped, slowing down my consumption time. They are worth the work.
Choc Zero
I was shook at how good these are for being zero-sugar chocolates! NO ADDED SUGAR, no sugar alcohols, and no artificial sweeteners including no sugar alcohols!! They have a milk chocolate coconut bark that is sooooo good and this Dark Chocolate Almonds with Sea Salt that’s dairy-free. They’re sweetened exclusively with monk fruit.
Skinny Dipped
Not called skinny because this is a weight-loss candy but because it has this skinny layer of dreamy chocolate and flavoring around the almonds! My absolute favorite is the peanut butter one but Marks heart beats for the mint version. The raspberry is also dreamy. A little protein, less sugar, some fat and a whole lot of delicious flavor. On amazon they have this variety pack if you have commitment issues.
UNREAL
UNREAL offers cleaned up classics, including non-GMO, FairTrade-certified candy-coated gems and peanut butter cups that all have LOWER SUGAR than their conventional counterpart. The company also offers a quinoa-crisp gem for crunch and a little fiber, as well as an almond butter cup for those avoiding peanuts. If you like Mounds then you must try their Chocolate Coated Coconut Bar which has only 3 grams of sugar!!
So if you’re looking for munchable candy coated chocolates in Easter friendly natural colors? Unreal brand's Gems are dare I say BETTER than M&Ms. Oh and If you are a fan of peanut butter eggs, check out their to-die-for PB cups
Loving Earth
You won’t find this brand in stores in the United States. It’s an Australian company that makes the most salivary gland stimulating chocolates. My personal favorite is their wholefood, vegan, salted Organic Caramel Chocolate but also their Raspberry Cashew Milk Chocolate is yum.
Eating Evolved
I’m not a fan of their chocolate bars but their Coconut Butter Cups are really good. Plus they’re dairy-free and one cup is lowFodmap and GUT REFRESH approved. They have 2 grams of sugar but the coconut butter makes them taste sweet.
FRUITY CHEWY GOODNESS
SMART SWEETS
THREE grams of sugar per BAG!! Only 3 for the entire bag and the contents in that one bag taste AMAZING. My first favorite are the PEACH RINGS… then SWEET FISH then probably SOUR BLAST BUDDIES. I forgot to mention they’re made with prebiotic fibers, have no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
ANNIE’S
Organic fruit snacks are on of my go-to pre workout foods. I thas sugar to help give me energy, doesn’t weigh me down in a workout and they’re super tasty.
ZEVIA
Okay I know this isn’t a candy but it is my favorite sweet treat. When I was sick, suffering from endometriosis, acne, borderline obesity.. I had a serious Dr. Pepper addiction. I was downing 3 a day. I tried replacing that with Diet but that only made my gut, mood and sleep issues worse. I discovered Zevia a few years after I healed and became symptom free and now use it as one of the tools for my client work.
I personally love grape, orange, grapefruit and the kids sodas. Mark love Mt. Zevia and Dr. Zevia, my guess is because those two have caffeine. haha
